The Science of Perfect Pizza Dough: Sourdough Pizza Dough Recipe for Restaurant-Quality Results

Updated: Sep 20, 2025

Pizza is more than just toppings—it’s all about the dough. A sourdough-based pizza dough recipe (with just a touch of yeast for extra lift) forms the base for a blistered, chewy crust. Topped with San Marzano tomato sauce, uncured meats, fresh mozzarella, oregano, garlic confit oil, and a drizzle of hot honey — every bite is balanced, bold, and unforgettable.

And here’s the best part: If you don’t have a sourdough starter? No problem. I’ve included a simple, yeast-based pizza dough recipe below so you can still make this at home — same toppings, same flavor punch.

Whether you’re a sourdough baker or just a pizza lover, this video will show you the science of perfect pizza dough so you can create restaurant-quality pizza in your own kitchen.
